The Charter

This household is a Community. The members of this Community are the boys & girls and grown up people. In connection with these are the parents and many friends who help us with their good will and their money.

Every group of people living together is a community. The first group is a family. Life in a family prepares us for life in a school. Life in a school prepares us for a life of work in the world or as part of another household.

All these communities have their own rules & laws & each community has to obey the law of the country in which it exists. Laws of conduct and health which the wisdom of their chosen leaders has decided to make.

Such laws are worth keeping because the obedience of each helps the happiness of all, where many live together.

Willingness to submit to laws is the payment made for that order & comfort which such

maintain. Such laws can only govern & maintain a community so long as they are accepted with humility, followed with faithfulness and maintained with justice.

1st HERALD

The members of this community shall live together with honour & loyalty, that is –
   They shall speak the truth
   Respect other people’s property & never steal.

They shall be prepared to serve the Community -
   By observing the common courtesies of life.
   By obeying the bye-laws of the community made for the convenience and safety of the household.
   By being careful and helpful with those younger than themselves.
   Kindly and just to their equals.
   Generous minded and considerate towards their elders.

2nd HERALD

By learning to be wise and controlled in the care of their own bodies and minds.
By facing difficulties courageously.
Rising after defeat.
And being humble in the face of success.

The acceptance of these laws, fits the members of the community to render faithful service in the future to the land to which they belong & to contribute what lies in their power to the happiness and welfare of men and women of any race.

ABOVE ALL remembering that the Community exists in common with all mankind solely that it may go forward on an Eternal Quest for ever seeking to discover God’s purpose for His world and for each individual soul in His world.
