FOREWORD. THE world to-day is confronted by a multitude of problems not merely waiting, but pressing, for solution. The methods by which we have attempted to solve the educational problem in the past nre many and various, but none can be called successful. We have not yet found the way. Creative energy results from the liberation of the life force. This liberation is the first concern of education. The nurture of that force is the next, and the transformation of it into the manifold forms of individual and social activity the last and continual labour of continued education. As a people we are very far from realising that politics, religion, art. and industry are only parts of a great educational process, that each is only worthy of its name in so far as each subserves and directs all its energies to a furtherance of that process. If we ask. What is Education ? only one answer is possible. Education is a way of life which not only brings to fruition all the faculties of mind. body, and soul, but also employs those faculties in such wise as to enable each individual to realise the utmost of the divinity within, the most perfect relations with all other individuals, and the completest service to the whole community.
