Postscript 5: Musical Evenings
I reproduce here all the programmes I have of Betty’s Musical Evenings. I do not seem to have conserved everything, and it would be interesting if some could be found from after my departure.
Following clarification from Gerald Moran regarding the legal aspects, I have redacted the programmes as follows:
Staff and their children are named in full.
Ex-children retain name and the initial of surname with the exception of
- David Dear and Katrina (“Katy”, or “Katie” in the 1973 programme) Gordon, who have contributed memories visible on the Association site, and whose attendance at Caldecott is therefore publicly known;
- Christopher Moran, whose brother Gerald assures me he would not object to being named;
- Those who are known to be deceased. These are Terry Bromley, Peta Farnell, Deborah Jacks/Pettit, Tina Norris, Jane Pooler-Williams and Francis Zammitt. The updating of this list could be a melancholy and increasingly frequent activity as the years catch up with us all. Suffice to say that I have acted on information known to me on 21 May 2024.
Mr. Henry Headley and Mr. Hewer were musical friends of Betty’s who lived in the village and were occasionally called upon to help out.
Several of the ex-children redacted could have been consulted, but this might become a never-ending process. Any former Caldecott child with memories of these occasions will surely be more than welcome to provide their own recollections for publication on the site.
